Measuring and Installing Your Chimney Liner

Proper measurement ensures your chimney liner fits securely in your masonry flue. Follow these steps:

  1. Measure the diameter and height of your existing chimney flue.
  2. Select a liner size that matches your appliance’s venting requirements.
  3. Refer to our Measuring Guide or watch our Installation Video for guidance.

How to Customize Your Chimney Liner Kit

Create your Chimney Cricket High-Efficiency Chimney Liner Kit step by step:

Step 1: Choose Your Liner

  • Select the proper liner diameter to fit your appliance.
  • Pick a length that matches your chimney height (available in 5-foot increments).
  • Consider adding an Insulation Kit to improve performance, especially for exterior chimneys or colder climates.

Step 2: Bottom Connector

  • For horizontal connections (e.g., through a masonry thimble), choose a Tee Connector.
  • For vertical connections, opt for a Vertical Appliance Connector.
  • Connectors are slightly larger than the liner diameter for a secure fit.

Step 3: Top Plate

  • Select a Top Plate to secure the liner at the chimney top. Choose a size that fits your flue opening.

Step 4: Rain Cap

  • Add a Rain Cap to protect your chimney from animals, debris, and weather.

Why Insulation Matters

Adding insulation keeps flue temperatures higher, reducing condensation and preventing moisture buildup that can damage your liner and appliance. Insulation is especially recommended for:

  • High-efficiency gas or oil appliances.
  • Chimneys on exterior walls.
  • Homes in cold climates.
