For an added premium, you can select from 8 optional glaze colors. This involves firing a durable, colored glass coating onto the clay. The result is a vibrant, long-lasting finish that is resistant to peeling and fading.

Installation & Flue Liner Guidance

Chimney pots are intended to be secured to the masonry chimney cap using a bed of mortar.

Flue Liner Fit

• The pot's base does not have to match the flue liner size precisely, but the base must not reduce the inside open area of the flue liner.

  • Note: The only exception is that a round-based pot may slightly overlap the corners of a square flue by no more than $3/4$ inch (this exception does not apply to this square-based Bishop pot).

• The flue liner can either extend slightly up inside the pot or be flush with the top surface of the chimney cap.

Anchoring (Optional but Recommended)

To protect against high winds (hurricanes/tornadoes) or seismic events, you may use supplemental anchoring. Drill a $1/4$–$1/2$-inch diameter hole on at least two opposite sides of the base and use a metal bar to secure the pot into the chimney wall or grout.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Ensure the pot is set perfectly plumb (vertical).

2. Set the chimney pot base into a bed of fresh mortar on the top of the chimney cap.

3. The cap must conform to ASTM C1283-02 8 standards, or an approved equivalent.

4. Any anchoring hardware used must be stainless steel or other non-corrosive metal.

5. Apply a mortar seal a minimum of 2 inches up the base of the chimney pot.

6. Flash the assembly using the method required by relevant building standards.

Safety and Measurement Warning

DO NOT use this decorative chimney top on any pre-engineered or prefabricated (zero-clearance) fireplace/chimney system unless the system manufacturer provides written consent. Improper use with metal flue systems could cause fire, carbon monoxide poisoning, property damage, or death.

Crucial Sizing Note: The flue liner sizes mentioned are NOMINAL and are not the exact measurements of your existing flue liner. Because flue dimensions vary widely, you must accurately measure your flue liner before ordering to ensure the pot fits correctly.

• Fitting Check: Ensure the pot's base does not intrude into the inside surface of the flue liner.

• Nominal Sizing Standard: Square flue liners are nominally sized by their OUTSIDE dimensions; round flue liners are nominally sized by their INSIDE dimensions.
